The Wiltshire market town of Devizes is going greener thanks to a project to plant or replace 100 trees this year.
Last month, the mayor of Devizes, Cllr Peter Corbett and his wife Christine planted six new cherry trees in the Market Place and new planters have been installed with a little help from Giganet.
The move is part of a target set by Greening Devizes Group, a member-led project at Devizes town council, to plant or replace 100 trees in Devizes this year.
Cllr Corbett was accompanied by Paul Noonan, Community Liasion Officer for Giganet, who become the first company to sponsor one of the planters.
Amber Murray, Community Engagement Manager at Devizes Town Council said: ” The Greening Devizes Group also have a small variety of tree whips to hand out for people to plant in their gardens to mark the occasion.”
